AMD Global Telemedicine and Vidyo Collaborate to Improve Web-Based Clinical Telemedicine Workflow

Aug 18, 2014

AMD Global Telemedicine Inc. (AMD), the world’s leading supplier of clinical Telemedicine Encounter Management Solutions (TEMS)™, and Vidyo collaborate to improve web-based clinical telemedicine workflow. This announcement of enhanced video conferencing integration embedded within AGNES Interactive software, bridges the gap between remote clinical assessment and quality patient-doctor face time.

AGNES Interactive™ is a web-based software platform that enables clinical healthcare providers to deliver live access to the patient site by transmitting real-time medical video, images and documents sourced from the connected medical devices. AMD Global Telemedicine has now embedded VidyoWeb™, a browser-based video conferencing client, as an iFrame within its AGNES Interactive software. The integration of Vidyo technology within AGNES Interactive simplifies the workflow process by providing one web-based platform for clinical assessment using medical devices, while at the same time engaging in a reliable HD quality video conference with the remote specialist over general purpose networks and computing devices.

The combined platform runs on a single PC at the exam site and uses an Internet connection to transmit information and communicate with the remote physician. The remote physician does not require any special hardware or software to perform the consult, just access to a computer with a web camera and microphone.

“The evolution of telemedicine into mainstream healthcare has fundamentally changed how telemedicine is practiced. Customers need the technology to be more robust but appear simple and seamless from the user perspective,” commented Dan McCafferty, Vice President of Global Sales and Corporate Development at AMD Global Telemedicine. “This entirely browser-based integration of AGNES and Vidyo puts the entire clinical encounter into one online platform, eliminating the need and budget for separate video conferencing hardware systems and IT infrastructure,” added McCafferty.

“Work flow is everything in healthcare. It doesn’t matter how good the telemedicine technology is if it doesn’t get adopted,” said Mark Noble, Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Vidyo. “Through our experience with the largest integrated delivery networks in the U.S., we have found that the key to telemedicine program adoption by care providers and patients alike is seamless integration of the supporting technologies to create a workflow that closely parallels the in-person experience. AGNES Interactive achieves this by providing access to real-time telemetry and high quality Vidyo communication all within the same browser window.”

AMD Global Telemedicine will be demonstrating AGNES Interactive and Vidyo integration in the AMD booth  (#401) at the American Telemedicine Association Fall Forum, September 7-9 in Palm Desert, California.
