, Nov 11, 2010 - London and Hackensack, NJ – November 11, 2010 – Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, and Imago Group PLC, Europe’s largest distributor of videoconferencing products, today announced that Imago has chosen Vidyo’s line of “next generation” videoconferencing solutions as part of its select offering of video communication products and services. Imago, through its ‘Video Corporation’ subsidiary, will be the sole distributor of Vidyo’s entire line of VidyoConferencing™ products in the UK. Vidyo has the only available software-based solution that leverages H.264 SVC compression technology from room systems to desktops, laptops, net books, and soon tablets and smartphones, over standard broadband Internet or 3G or 4G networks.

“Imago has been a specialist in video communications for 15 years and we have always worked with a limited number of vendors offering very strong growth potential,” said Ian Vickerage, Managing Director, Imago Group PLC.  “Vidyo is a strategic choice for us- they are only the second endpoint and architecture vendor that we will introduce to the UK Market since we started.   It is an exciting time for the industry and we believe that Vidyo’s game-changing approach and truly unique product is shaking up the status quo and making the potential market much bigger. Vidyo is the pioneer in SVC-based videoconferencing solutions and their next generation patented architecture enables us to broaden our offering to include affordable personal telepresence; high definition, full screen, up to 60 FPS, multiparty Vidyo™ conferences via the Internet, on a range of devices with no perceived latency.”

“Imago is a key player in the videoconferencing market in Europe and we are pleased that they have chosen Vidyo as a key partner to distribute our complete line of award-winning products,” said Eric Le Guiniec, Vidyo’s General Manager, EMEA. “This move by Imago is yet another indication of the demand for Vidyo’s groundbreaking approach to video communications, as  businesses look to eliminate their MCU-based architectures and upgrade to higher quality, more affordable, and flexible solutions.”

Vidyo’s solution was recently the recipient of the Wall Street Journal’s 2010 Technology Innovation Award, nudging out other formidable nominees including Microsoft, to win the top honor in the publication’s “Network/Internet Technologies/Broadband” category.

Vidyo’s unique architecture, built from the ground up, is the first in a new generation of software solutions that leverages the H.264/Scalable Video Coding (SVC) video compression standard.  H.264/SVC enables a video stream to be layered to deliver multiple resolutions, quality levels and bit rates. Utilizing this capability and Vidyo´s patented intellectual property, VidyoTechnology™ offers native rate and resolution matching on a per endpoint basis and unprecedented error resiliency, eliminating the central component of legacy video conferencing—the Multipoint Control Unit (MCU)—and replacing it with a distributed architecture using an application layer router. Because Vidyo’s solution is based on software, it can easily be expanded, upgraded, and customized for customers’ individual Enterprise and vertical market video conferencing needs. Vidyo’s product line spans a full range of potential applications, from the VidyoDesktop™ with personal telepresence capabilities on a PC or a Mac to the VidyoRoom™ that encodes and decodes HD-quality video at up to 60 frames per second. Vidyo solutions can be used by everyone in a company, whether from the office, home or while traveling, via general IP networks, including the Internet.
