Vidyo Selected as a Red Herring Top 100 North America Tech Startup

Jun 29, 2011

Hackensack, NJ – June 27, 2011 – Red Herring has named Vidyo, Inc. to its Top 100 North America list,  recognizing the company’s industry-leading innovation and market impact. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.

“Choosing the companies with the strongest potential was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “We believe Vidyo embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. Vidyo should be proud of its accomplishment, as the competition was very strong.”

Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated the companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, management quality, strategy, and market penetration. This assessment of potential is complemented by a review of the track record and standing of startups relative to their sector peers, allowing Red Herring to see past the “buzz” and make the list a valuable instrument of discovery and advocacy for the most promising new business models in North America.

“Being among the 2011 Red Herring Top 100 North America tech startups is an honor and another acknowledgment of how the Vidyo communications and collaboration platform is changing the rules set by incumbent vendors to deliver superior value to customers and create new markets,” said Ashish Gupta, Vidyo CMO and SVP of Corporate Development.  “The  announcement of our new VidyoPanorama  solution which offers immersive interactions with 1080p 60fps quality on up to 20 screens at 10% of the cost of our competitors, is another proof point of Vidyo’s disruptive effect on the market.”

Vidyo is also a 2010 winner of the Wall Street Journal Innovation Award and was  also named for the second year in a row to the Wall Street JournalNext Big Thing’ list (ranked 11th in 2011, up from 34th last year) out of 10,000 venture capital- backed firms.  The  company’s VidyoMobile offering also won the 2011 Best of Interop Award for Collaboration for breaking down the walls created by legacy room systems and allowing seamless video collaboration between desktop, room systems and mobile devices on Vidyo’s infrastructure.
