Compact, Cost-Effective Mobile Point-of-Care Product to be Demonstrated This Week at HIMSS 2012 in Las Vegas

Hackensack, NJ – February 21, 2012 – Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced a newly formed partnership with Rubbermaid Telemedicine.  Incorporating Vidyo’s unique telehealth solution into its telemedicine carts, Rubbermaid Telemedicine will provide its customers with the ability to further enhance the ease-of-use and quality of highly personal, face-to-face interactions between healthcare providers and patients.  Rubbermaid will be displaying the Vidyo integration at this week’s HIMSS 2012 conference from February 21 – 23, 2012 in Las Vegas: Rubbermaid Medical Solutions Booth (#5150).

In 2003, Rubbermaid Medical Solutions began its production of medication style carts.  Since that time, Rubbermaid Medical Solutions has become the premier provider of medication and record-keeping carts and wall-mounted workstations for healthcare facilities.

“The combination of compact and lightweight design, with a very strong ergonomic focus, makes our telemedicine cart ideal for point-of-care applications,” said David Pirkle, General Manager, Rubbermaid Medical Solutions.  “The adoption of Vidyo in our telemedicine solution advances our ability to offer customers an extremely portable, high-quality and cost-effective video communications and collaboration tool that will easily work in tandem with the other applications on our carts. The fact that video consultations can be accessed via iPads and other mobile devices is a huge benefit to physicians, medical facilities, and their patients.”

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions recently announced the Rubbermaid Telemedicine Cart. This mobile point-of-care platform combines web, video conferencing and interactive whiteboard technology all in one. Because it is mobile, the Rubbermaid Telemedicine Cart can be used in every area of a hospital or clinic and enables real-time collaboration and patient/caregiver communication.

“Since Vidyo can be accessed over the Internet, 4G and LTE networks, it enables more practitioners, no matter where they’re located, to be available for remote consultations; this is a huge benefit to patients and a boon to the healthcare industry,” said Dr. Amnon Gavish, Vidyo’s Senior VP, Vertical Solutions.  “This is just the beginning of an exciting partnership with Rubbermaid.  Customers can look forward to future innovative and economical Vidyo-Rubbermaid Telemedicine integrated products that will expand the reach of high-quality, easy-to-access video communications.”

The Vidyo Difference

The Vidyo communication and collaboration platform is software-based, highly flexible and can be easily customized for individual enterprise and vertical market video conferencing needs. The patented VidyoRouter™ architecture introduces Adaptive Video Layering™, which dynamically optimizes the video for each endpoint leveraging H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC)-based compression technology and Vidyo’s IP. Adaptive Video Layering eliminates the MCU and offers unprecedented error resiliency, low latency rate matching thus enabling natural, affordable, high-quality video to work over the Internet, LTE and 4G networks. The platform allows users to quickly leverage the latest hardware innovations and new consumer devices, making it uniquely attractive to partners. Vidyo has been active driving H.264 SVC and SIP videoconferencing interoperability in various standards bodies since 2005.
