Vidyo Integration with Microsoft Office Communicator Enables Personal Telepresence in Just "One Click"

Vidyo Delivers Industry's Lowest Latency and Highly Interactive Video Conferencing on the Desktop

Hackensack, NJ (December 3, 2009) - Vidyo®, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced support for Microsoft® Office Communicator (MOC), allowing MOC client users to quickly and easily initiate and participate in HD multiparty Vidyo conferences. With Vidyo's award-winning, patented technology which is based on the new H.264 SVC (Scalable Video Coding) standard, MOC users now have access to telepresence on the desktop with latency at less than 250 ms, and consistent picture quality on their PCs via a standard Internet connection.

"Businesses are finally beginning to understand the role of video within unified communications and the value proposition of deploying communications platforms such as Microsoft´s Office Communications Server (OCS) with Microsoft Office Communicator (MOC)" said Krithi Rao, Industry Analyst, Information and Communication Technologies, Frost & Sullivan. "Consequently, along with UC, they want the choice of deploying video technology that best suits their visual needs. ´One click´ integration of multiparty HD/low-latency video conferencing such as that provided by Vidyo, with UC platforms such as OCS with MOC, will increase the usage of video at the desktop, and increase the overall value proposition of the UC platform as well."

"Up until now, MOC users have been limited in their video conferencing options to standard desktop performance" said Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo CEO. "Vidyo´s application adds Personal Telepresence to the MOC client, enabling users, for the first time, to experience the same low latency and consistent picture quality traditionally restricted to Telepresence rooms. Vidyo´s economics and architecture make it easy for companies to scale deployment of video conferencing to service everyone in the organization."

Vidyo´s Innovative Approach

Vidyo´s plug-in connects MOC with the VidyoDesktop™ client, providing end-users with the ability to initiate Vidyo conferences using their MOC-based contacts. Instant Messaging sessions can be escalated to Vidyo conference in the same manner that MOC video chat is launched. The Vidyo conference is initiated by clicking the "VidyoConferencing™" button from a pull-down menu on a given contact. The contact is automatically invited to the user´s meeting room, and a "guest hyper-link" is provided if the contact is not a registered Vidyo user.

Vidyo has also simplified scheduling and guest participant invitations with a separate plug-in for Microsoft Outlook. While generating a calendar invite for a meeting, users can simply click the VidyoConferencing button on their Outlook tool bar to add a URL that takes invited guests directly into the user´s virtual meeting room, providing easy one-click access for invitees.

The Vidyo Plug-in for MOC supports both R1 and R2 versions of Microsoft Office Communicator 2007. Information regarding MOC 2007 can be found at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/communicator.

Since all Vidyo technology and products deliver superior IP network error- resiliency, the Vidyo platform accessed through the plug-in enables IT managers deploying OCS with MOC to eliminate the costly dedicated networks and equipment necessary to achieve high-quality, multi-party video conferences with other video solutions. VidyoConferencing also enables teleworking or traveling participants to be included from outside the corporate network using just the Internet, and through firewalls with the VidyoProxy™.

Availability

The Vidyo Plug-In for MOC is currently available through the Vidyo reseller network.
