Vidyo Announces Availability of VidyoTechnology Support for Smart Phones and Tablets Running Android and Moblin

May 26, 2010

Hackensack, NJ – May 26, 2010 — Vidyo®, Inc., today announced the availability of its VidyoTechnology™ Software Development Kit (SDK), enabling developers to build multipoint video conferencing applications into Android and Moblin-based smart phones and tablets running Intel® Atom™ Processor Z6xx series-based platforms (formerly Moorestown) and on ARM processor-based platforms. In addition, VidyoTechnology will support the MeeGo software platform when it becomes available.  VidyoTechnology is currently used by OEM customers to integrate video conferencing into consumer video chat, unified communications and the highest quality immersive telepresence solutions.

“VidyoTechnology now offers developers multipoint videoconferencing integration between smart phone and tablet applications and existing endpoints including desktop, room system, and telepresence platforms,” said Ofer Shapiro, CEO and co-founder of Vidyo, Inc. “3G and 4G networks are all about enabling higher bandwidth applications, and now, with the availability of advanced processor platforms, VidyoTechnology offers developers the ability to build highly error-resilient multipoint videoconferencing  applications on key smart phone and tablet platforms. VidyoTechnology is the only multipoint videoconferencing technology that offers rate matching without additional latency, which is critical for delivering natural video communication on wireless networks.”

VidyoTechnology leverages the patented VidyoRouter™ architecture offering unprecedented error resiliency and eliminating the latency in existing MCU-based implementations enabling natural, high quality video to work over the Internet, LTE, 3G and 4G networks for a fraction of the cost. VidyoTechnology delivers video quality found only on high QoS and dedicated video networks.

“Personal computing is transcending a range of devices, including tablets and smartphones,” said Pankaj Kedia, director of global ecosystem programs in Intel Corporation’s Ultra Mobility Group. “The Intel Atom processor roadmap is designed to bring a high performing computing and full Internet experience to these device market segments. We are happy to be working with Vidyo to bring their multipoint videoconferencing capability to Atom processor-based platforms and provide the market with a range of exciting new device experiences.”

The patented VidyoRouter™ software architecture leverages off-the-shelf Intel processing platforms across rooms systems, PC and Mac- based desktops and laptops, net books and soon smart phones and tablets, enabling it to take advantage of faster, intelligent multi-core technology, advancing the price to performance profile of its video conferencing solutions at the same pace as the PC world. Vidyo was publicly demonstrated during a keynote presentation at CES in January, as part of the first TV-quality multiparty videoconference running on an Atom- based smart phone prototype. Vidyo´s Intellectual Property

Vidyo is the only company to deliver a purpose-built architecture leveraging H.264 SVC and eliminating a costly MCU as the basis for a video conferencing solution. H.264 SVC is a video compression standard that enables a video stream to be broken into multiple resolutions, quality levels and bit rates. The VidyoRouter™ is the first video multipoint solution that can deliver rate matching and continuous presence capabilities without an additional video encode and decode. This unique capability allows for less than half of the end-to-end latency of MCU-based solutions. (Click here to see a comparative demonstration of Vidyo´s consistent quality).
