Version 21.5.0—September 2021

What's new in this release?

  • Epic CAL participants in a waiting room can view video content
  • This feature enables our healthcare customers using Epic CAL integration to play video or music in waiting rooms for patients who are waiting for their healthcare providers to join their call. This means that a patient waiting for a physician to join their call no longer has to stare at a blank screen. The waiting room can be customized such that while waiting, the patient can:
  • view a video.
  • listen to audio (with or without a background image).
  • see a background image (with or without audio).
  • Providers can specify the video, audio, and background image content to play in the waiting room. They also have the ability to select different content to play in the waiting room for different calls.
  • To use this feature, the Tenant Admin must configure it on VidyoPortal version 21.4.0 or later, and end users must be running VidyoConnect for Desktop version 21.5.0 or later or VidyoConnect for Native WebRTC version 21.4.0 or later.
  • For more information about the new configuration parameters for this feature, refer to the "Other Configuration Parameters" table in the Using VidyoConnect: Admin-Level Functions article.
  • For information about how to configure Epic CAL integration for this feature, refer to the "Playing Audio or Video Content to Epic CAL Participants in a Waiting Room" section of the Vidyo and Epic Integration with VidyoConnect Context-Aware Linking (CAL) article.
  • For information about how to configure the Tenant Admin Portal for this feature, refer to the "Configuring Custom Parameters" section the VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Administrator Guide version 21.4.0 or later.
  • High-frame content share with audio
  • This feature enables users to share audio with shared content at high definition, up to 1080p 30fps.
  • Users are able to share sound from their computer audio to the other participants on the call while sharing content.
  • Enhanced input/output device selection
  • This release includes an enhancement that makes it easy for users to set any of their connected devices (mic, speaker, or camera) as the preferred device for VidyoConnect calls.
  • When VidyoConnect is first installed, it uses the system default devices.
  • Users can now easily select an input/output device as the preferred device in the dropdown list of the connected devices. The selected device will be used as long as it is connected.
  • If the preferred device is not connected or or no longer available, VidyoConnect will use the system default.
  • If a user connects a new device that was selected as preferred, VidyoConnect will automatically switch to that preferred device and start to use it. If the user is in a call, a prompt appears to notify the user of the switch in devices.
  • Also included in the updated audio/video settings is a user's ability to set the default mute state of their devices (mic, speaker, or camera).
  • On the VidyoConnect app Settings page, users can mute or turn off their devices for all calls.
  • Users can enable devices in a call.
  • On the beauty screen, users can mute/unmute a device for one call.
  • To learn more about input/output device selection, refer to the Using Friendly Device Selection section of the Using VidyoConnect: About Feature article.
