VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Native WebRTC Version 20.2.1: Limited Availability (LA) Release

Product Bulletin No. 1302

What's new in this release?

  • Join WebRTC meetings faster
  • Admins can configure a new URL parameter that allows participants to quickly and easily join calls automatically by clicking the meeting link and bypassing the "Join via App" and "Join via Browser" page.
  • If the participant's browser doesn't meet the requirements for a WebRTC meeting, the standard "Join via App" page will still display.
  • VidyoConnect™ Room support
  • We've added server-side support for the new VidyoConnect Room user interface for both healthcare and general collaboration customers.
  • VidyoConnect Room provides streamlined workflows and a branded modern appearance that models the same look and feel as our other video collaboration products.
  • For more information about VidyoConnect Room, refer to the "About Version 20.3.0" and "About Version 20.2.0" sections of the VidyoConnect Room and VidyoRoom: Releases article.
  • New custom parameters
  • Custom application developers can now centrally store parameters per tenant to build deeper integrations using Vidyo APIs.
  • These authenticated and non-authenticated parameters can be queried via REST APIs for both guest and registered users.
  • From the Tenant Admin, select Feature Settings > Custom Parameters to add, edit, and view custom parameters.
  • To learn more about the custom parameter APIs, methods, and error codes, refer to the "Custom Parameter" chapter in version 20.2.0 of the Web Services API User Guide.
  • Platform APIs
  • The Platform API suite is an SSH-based set of APIs that allows remote, scriptable configuration and centralized updates.
  • You can now access the VidyoPlatform API User option via the System Console.
  • For details about all the Platform APIs and the Using the VidyoPlatform API User Option on the System Console, refer to the Platform APIs article.
  • Increase security by expiring Epic CAL links
  • To increase security, Admins using the Epic CAL integration can now automatically expire CAL links based on the AppointmentTime in the "Default CAL link validity period (minutes)" field.
  • Admins can additionally use the LinkValidityPeriod parameter in the CRYPTSTRING to customize the length of time in minutes the Epic link is valid.
  • For more information on how to use this feature, refer to the "Configuring Advanced Workflow" section in the Vidyo and Epic Integration with VidyoConnect Context-Aware Linking (CAL) article.
  • Retry button added to quickly reload Join page
  • Due to an existing bug in Chromium™, the pop-up to open a room link with VidyoConnect may not always appear. For such cases, Vidyo has added a Retry button to allow users to quickly refresh the page and to invoke the VidyoConnect app again.
  • To learn more about the Chromium bug, click here.
  • As Microsoft® Edge and Google Chrome™ are both based on Chromium, they are both affected by this bug. Therefore, if you use these browsers, you will have an option to select the Retry button from the splash page.
  • Resolved issues
  • In this release, we've addressed a number of translation issues and other bugs to improve usability and performance.

VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Version 19.1.0: General Availability Release

Product Bulletin No. 1247

In VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter version 19.1.0, we've made improvements to the TytoCare integration for our healthcare customers, we've updated some of the icons on the Control Meeting page, we've added support for direct dialing to our Custom Invocation feature, and we've resolved a number of issues that notably enhance security.

What's new in this release?

  • TytoCare integration improved error messages and logs
  • TytoCare is a cloud-based telehealth solution that simulates a comprehensive physical examination using a portable WiFi-enabled diagnostic device. The Tyto device allows medical professionals to examine a patient at the Point of Care (POC) and broadcast the exam data to a remote clinician. When used in conjunction with the VidyoConnect™ desktop application, the remote clinician can virtually meet with the POC users via secure and reliable video conferencing.
  • In VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter version 19.1.0, we've improved the TytoCare integration by:
  • Adding more informative error messages. For example, we now display the relevant error codes when the Connection Test is run.
  • Adding more details to the TytoCare Audit and App logs. For example, we now log the HTTP status codes for all Tyto REST API calls.
  • NOTE: The TytoCare integration requires version 18.4.0 or later of the VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter as well as version 19.1.0 or later of the VidyoConnect desktop application. If you are an on-premises customer, refer to Super Admin: Configuring TytoCare Integration and Tenant Admin: Configure Tytocare integration for information about how to configure TytoCare integration.
  • Control Meeting page icon updates
  • The Control Meeting page enables you to control meeting functions, such as disconnecting participants, muting participants, adding PINs, and more.
  • The Control Meeting page that you access from the VidyoPortal now includes the same icons that you will see in version 19.2.0 and later of the VidyoConnect application. For example, we've updated the icons that enable you to disable video and mute audio for all participants without allowing them to re-enable.
  • Custom Invocation support for direct dialing
  • Custom Invocation enables third-party partners and developers to customize the VidyoConnect client and invoke it from their platform. With version 19.1.0, Custom Invocation now supports:
  • Directly dialing online users. Applications integrating with the VidyoConnect app can now embed the direct-dial links for registered users in the VidyoPortal and use those links to initiate direct-dial video calls. For more information about how to enable this workflow, refer to the "Direct dial parameter" section of the Using Custom Invocation article.
  • This feature requires version 19.2.0 or later of the VidyoConnect application.
  • Resolved issues
  • In this release, we've resolved a number of issues, including many issues that enhance security and usability, such as this:
  • We've corrected an issue with orphaned records that occurred on the Control Meeting page. Prior to this fix, the display names of participants would turn into orphaned records 10 to 15 minutes after they joined a call. Since these records could no longer be referenced in the database, call moderators were unable to mute the participants' microphones or speakers or disconnect the participants from the calls via the Control Meeting page.

VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Version 18.3.1: General Availability Release

Product Bulletin No. 1231

Vidyo is pleased to announce VidyoConnect™ for Desktop version 18.3.1. VidyoConnect is Vidyo's meeting solution for team collaboration that speeds global alignment across your enterprise, allowing for better-informed decisions, faster responses, and deeper trust. We invite you to visit our VidyoConnect page to find out more about the VidyoConnect applications, the benefits of moving to our cloud services, and the plans we offer.

In the 18.3.1 release, we've also resolved a video performance issue from the previous 18.2.4 version. Please read below for more information.

What's new in this release?

  • Resolved issue
  • In VidyoConnect version 18.2.4, Vidyo discovered and resolved an issue where, in certain scenarios, the VidyoConnect application would prevent the operating system from going into suspend/sleep mode and displaying a screen saver. However, black video tiles then occasionally began to appear during some video calls as a result of the fix.

In version 18.3.1, we have resolved the black tiles issue in addition to the previous screen saver issue. Therefore, the VidyoConnect application should now allow the operating system to go into suspend/sleep mode without causing black tiles to appear during active video calls.

VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Version 3.4.6: General Availability Release

Product Bulletin No. 1182

With this release of the VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter, we've significantly increased the limit on the number of tenants you can have on your VidyoPortal. We also added REST Web Service authentication so you’re no longer limited to SOAP only. Lastly, you can now publish user-level and room-level events to a TCP stream, freeing you up from having to poll the VidyoPortal. Upgrade to version 3.4.6, our most stable VidyoPortal ever, and let go of limitations!

  • Support for many more tenants
  • We’ve extended the prefix length from 3 digits to 7 digits to allow for more tenants on the VidyoPortal. Now your VidyoPortal can support up to 10 million tenants instead of only 999!
  • Web Service enhancements
  • We now offer a new authentication method for tenants: REST Web Service authentication. This new authentication method is being offered in addition to the current SOAP authentication method.
  • For your convenience, one Super Admin user can now invoke Admin Web Services across multiple tenants.
  • Notable performance and stability improvements
  • In this release, we’ve made significant performance and stability improvements, resulting in the most stable VidyoPortal we’ve ever offered.
  • Event streaming
  • User-level and room-level events (like logging in, joining a room, or adding a room) can now be published on a TCP stream. With this feature, you no longer have to spend time polling the VidyoPortal to see what's going on. Instead, events get pushed to you in real-time so that you can immediately apply business rules to those events.
  • In addition, if you have your own conference monitoring system, this feature is especially beneficial because you can use the information for reporting, analysis, and more.
  • Anchor release
  • In accordance with the Vidyo Standard Software Maintenance Policy, Vidyo is also pleased to announce version 3.4.6 as an Anchor release. Anchor releases for Vidyo infrastructure and endpoints are listed in the Vidyo Anchor release compatibility matrix.
