Join or leave a breakout room

If you are a moderator, see Use breakout rooms.

As a call participant, you can join a breakout room only if the moderator of the call chooses to move you to a breakout room.

When the call moderator moves you to a breakout room, a pop-up appears on your VidyoConnect screen indicating that you are being moved to another room. Additionally, when being moved from the main conference room to a breakout room or when being moved from breakout room to breakout room, your interface is temporarily disabled.

Another pop-up appears to inform you of the successful move to the new room. Click the Hide button to remove the pop-up or wait until the countdown completes for the pop-up to disappear automatically.

When you click the Leave the call button, the End conference pop-up appears. You can then click End conference to exit both the room and the main conference, click Exit room to exit the room but return to the main conference, or click Cancel to remain in the room.

Co-hosting using the moderator PIN

You can use the room moderator PIN to become a co-host (moderator) and help the conference owner with moderator functions.

A participant who becomes a moderator using the moderator PIN in the main conference room has the same rights as the room owner. They can:

  1. Create and delete breakout rooms
  2. Move participants between rooms
  3. Send broadcast messages
  4. See and respond to help requests
  5. Record the calls in the rooms
  6. Respond to participants’ requests for help
  7. Lock the room
  8. Moderate the media devices (camera and microphone)
  9. Open in browser

For more information on how to use these features, refer to Use breakout rooms and Join or leave a breakout room.

Co-hosting a single breakout room

With breakout rooms we allow you to delegate the ability to co-host a single room.

For this, you can use the breakout room moderator PIN which is different from the main room moderator PIN.

With a breakout room moderator PIN, you can make a participant a moderator only in the selected room.

The breakout room moderator does not have the ability to move participants between breakout rooms, but they have the ability to control the mic and cameras for participants.

For more information on how to use these features, refer to Use breakout rooms and Join or leave a breakout room.
